NMMU Transscripts … WTF???
These idiots … shouldn’t be too difficult to send transscripts to my university in Germany. Should it? But let’s start at the beginning …
Last year I spend a few month studying at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU). From the start there had been some difficulties with my choice of modules. The problem: I chose modules from 2 different faculties. Uncommon but ok … at least they told me so. They only had to contact the faculties and wait for their ok. A mere formality. So far so good.
This „mere formality“ took 2 weeks!!! And every day I had to walk like 20min to get there just to hear: „Oh … sorry! I forgot! I was soooo busy. Come back 2morrow. Then it’ll be done.“ For sure … if you tell so! Finally, after 2 weeks and approximately 8 times hearing the mentioned sentence I had my modules 2gether. I finished 4 of them.
Back in Germany I asked our International Office for my transscripts (results for the modules I did), which should be sent to Wedel. As I know, some things take a little bit longer there in South Africa, so I wasn’t worried when the transscripts hvn’t arrived in March. In April I started calling the International Office of FH Wedel from time to time to ask for the transscripts. They were working on it and requesting the transscripts from the NMMU. Today I got notice via mail that the transscripts hv arrived. But not the way I expected them:

Let’s sum this up: I passed one module (52% might sound bad, but acctually it was one of the best results) and CANCELLED 4 of them. Am I missing sth. here??? I finished 3 out of 4 modules that are „CANCELLED“! I wrote damn exams in these modules and got my damn class mark. So … don’t tell me I hv cancelled these subject. It’s not my fault if these guys aren’t capable of managing some simple marks and student records.
Our International Office is on this, so I hope for the best. But still … I’m kind of pissed right now.

Ja, das kann doch nicht sein ! Es geht doch nichts über eine ordentliche deutsche Verwaltung ! Und was machen die armen Studenten, die auf das Semester und Klausurergebnisse angewiesen sind – back luck and come back next year! Aber es war auf jeden Fall gut für dein Englisch.

Jah, hatte mich schon über Dein Transcript gewundert, hatte ja ne Kopie davon bekommen (ist Datenschutz nicht was tolles?) als ich die selben Probleme mit meinen Kursen hier hatte. Soll ich mal im International Office vorbei gehen und in Deinem Namen Amok laufen? 🙂
@Peter: Stimmt schon: deutsche Bürokratie hat manchmal ihre Vorteile … auch wenn man das hier nicht glaubt. Hoffe mal, dass die Klausurergebnisse noch mal auftauchen, ansonsten setze ich mich noch mal direkt mit den Dozenten in Verbindung und mache nicht den Umweg über die International Office. Aber wir wissen ja alle … dass es in diesem halben Jahr andere Prioritäten als Studium gab. 😉
@Malte: Hehe … kannst mal in der International Office vorbei gehen und einen schönen Gruß ausrichten. Die sollen mal anfangen ihre Aufgaben zu erledigen. Und Datenschutz … ist wohl nur in Europa so ein Trend. 🙂 Na ja, hoffe mal, dass die Sachen bei dir besser ablaufen.
